What do you think Council's role is in protecting and conserving heritage?
Councils are one of the main groups that are protecting heritage in their area of control. The Council has a heritage committee that meets regularly on heritage matters Council PAR's has heritage controls in the documentation. I have service on the heritage committee for a number of years and understand the importance of preserving heritage in Mount Gambier
What measures and incentives do you support to protect and conserve local heritage?
What is the most important heritage protection issue in your local government area?
Mount Gambier has controls that have addressed heritage protection. I consider that all the heritage issues have been addressed and I wait for electors to bring to the attention of Council of other heritage buildings that need protection or controls. All planning applications to Council are checked by the planners for heritage issues.
What policies and programs will you advocate to protect and conserve heritage in your local area?
Do you support local Councils retaining development approval powers for projects over $3m in value?
Mixed views on this question. Would be pleased to see projects over $3M in this area to be approved by either body (Government or Council)
